The Intricate Work of Emily V Jones

Emily V Jones’ 3D wall-based works play with the possibilities of combining geometric shape with solid colour. Materials are manipulated, with specific details picked out, to reimagine commonplace items like maps and books into bold compositions.

Over the years, the artist has used a vast range of materials to create her work; map guides, subway and underground maps, OS maps, encyclopedias, dictionaries, comic books, banknotes, music sheets, book pages, and sudoku puzzles.

Regularly completing bespoke commissions for private clients and major companies, Emily’s pieces can be found in the collections of The Londoner Hotel in Macau, Virgin Atlantic, and Crystal Palace FC.

She has recently completed commissions for Virgin Atlantic, using pages from their discontinued on-board magazine ‘Vera’, as well as a large scale private commission using OS Maps of the entire River Thames!

Emily takes the rigid and linear structures of maps and the written word, and unravels them, experimenting with contemporary 3D construction, colour and structural reimagining.
